Daniel Ledva, CAIA, Founding Partner

Mr. Ledva is a founding partner of the Kelson Group. Prior to Kelson, Mr. Ledva worked at the Marwood Group where he was a Partner and Managing Director of Marwood Group Asset Management, a FINRA registered Broker Dealer and Registered Investment Advisor. Mr. Ledva was in a supervisory role within the Asset Management Group. Prior to Marwood, Mr. Ledva was an account executive for IBM/Lexmark consulting services where his focus was process improvement for Fortune 500 companies. Mr. Ledva started his career as an environmental engineer for Raytheon Engineers and Constructors and was responsible for capital project management for Fortune 100 oil refiners and chemical manufacturers. In addition, Mr. Ledva is a consultant to OppenheimerFunds, Inc, a 232B asset management firm . He is also an advisor to the Dr. Gene Carpenter Foundation. Mr. Ledva graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Engineering from Millersville University of Pennsylvania. Mr. Ledva was a 3-year letter winner on the football team and his college thesis was published in Healthcare Hazardous Materials Management (HHMM) Journal. Mr. Ledva holds NASD Series 7, 24, 63, and 66 licenses, and is a CAIA (Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst).

Brian Rathjen, Founding Partner

Brian Rathjen is a founding partner of the Kelson Group. Prior to founding Kelson Group in 2010, Mr. Rathjen worked at Marwood Group for nine years where he started and ran Marwood Group Asset Management. Mr. Rathjen oversaw all business and client service in the Asset Management Group and  he was responsible for raising over nine billion dollars from the institutional marketplace as a placement agent. Mr. Rathjen had additional senior responsibilities involving the strategic direction and overall management processes of MGAM. Prior to Marwood Group, Mr. Rathjen worked at Prudential Securities as an Institutional Fixed Income Specialist. Mr. Rathjen holds the Series 24,7,63,66 licenses. Prior to starting his career on Wall Street, Mr. Rathjen was an Engineering Officer in the Surface Warfare Community of the United States Navy.  While serving onboard the USS Ouellet (FF-1077) in Pearl, Harbor Hawaii, then Lieutenant Rathjen was awarded both the Navy Commendation Medal and the Navy Achievement Medal for Meritorious Service. He graduated from the United States Naval Academy, Annapolis Maryland with a BS in Economics. Mr. Rathjen is a Knight of the Sovereign Military Order of Malta and a member of the Friendly Sons of St. Patrick of New York where he serves on the Admission Committee. He is a member of Senator Kirsten Gillibrand’s Service Academy nominating committee. Mr. Rathjen also serves as a Trustee for the George H. Laufenberg Scholarship Foundation which awards academic scholarships to the family members of United Brotherhood of Carpenters. Mr. Rathjen is active with the Naval Academy Alumni Association where he serves as a Blue and Gold Officer helping inner city students with admissions to the Naval Academy and is a member of the USNA President’s Circle. Mr. Rathjen resides in Rockville Centre, New York with his wife, Wendy and two daughters, Sydney and Charlotte.

Dean Valentine

Dean ValentineMr. Valentine is an advisor to the Kelson Group. Most recently, he was a Managing Director with Gerson Global Advisors (“GGA”), an investment banking and sovereign advisory firm where he was largely focused on M&A business development. Prior to GGA, he served as Chief Operating Officer of a foreign-owned security and risk-management company. From 2004 to 2008, he served as a Senior Vice President and Co-Portfolio Manager at Four Corners Capital Management (“Four Corners”), an investment management company overseeing $3.8 billion of high-yield corporate debt assets. At Four Corners, Mr. Valentine was responsible for the management and underwriting of approximately $650 million of the firm’s investments. Prior to joining Four Corners, Mr. Valentine was an investment banker with Wachovia Securities’ Corporate Finance Group in Los Angeles. Mr. Valentine presently serves with distinction as a Reserve Naval Officer in the U.S. Navy’s elite Special Warfare / SEAL teams. His duty assignments have included deployments to Asia, South America, and Europe as a platoon commander and as a special operations force planner. Mr. Valentine holds an MBA from the Harvard Graduate School of Business Administration and a BS in Economics from the United States Naval Academy.

Brendan Canty

Brendan Canty joined the Kelson Group in 2016. Brendan began his career in the Office of the New York City Comptroller’s Bureau of Asset Management. He then worked for JPMorgan Chase as a Corporate and Investment Bank Auditor. Brendan then joined UBS Financial Services in a Financial Advisory role. Mr. Canty graduated from University of Wisconsin-Madison with a B.S. in Finance. He holds the Series 7, 63 licenses.  Brendan volunteers with Hudson County CASA advocating for children in the foster care system and is on the CASA Volunteer Committee. Mr. Canty is a  volunteer at Double H Ranch - a camp for children with life threatening illnesses. Brendan is a member of the Friendly Sons of Saint Patrick in the City of New York.
